Decent City Centre Hotel In Inverness...

in Scotland

I will be in Inverness in June for a wedding, and need a hotel for one night. I want to spend as little as possible without staying in an absolute dive.
I have never been to Inverness before so I have no idea what hotels are available.
After a quick search on expedia, trip advisor etc I have found the following:
The Chieftan - £85 for double room
The Willows - £90 for double room
Ramada Encore - £111 double room

We will have a hire car, so onsite parking would be good, and my OH has stated the hotel must have a bar

We will prob want to meet up with old friends etc, so something close to the centre would be great.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very grateful :-)

If you could forgo the bar, you could get a very nice B&B in Inverness, close to bars, restaurants etc for half that - and probably a much better breakfast!

Hotels are improving, but in the North of Scotland I'd usually look out for B&B way before I check for hotels. Often more comfortable with more facilities and better food.

(Edited to add, I've stayed in 3 hotels in Inverness; Craigmonie, Kingsmills and the Station. Wouldn't stay in the Station again - terrible. Other two were good - both were around £80.)
  • I have to say I much prefer the hotels to the b&bs. This breakfast at exactly 8am or whatever isn't for me.
the Ramada Encore is usually a good choice although £111 seems a bit steep. What is the exact date you are looking for?

I stayed overnight at the Fairways Travel Lodge & it was cheap as I booked it when it was offer - it is now I think.

It's a good 40 mins walk out of the centre - very quiet. It's next to a golf course which has a restuarant that is supposed to be very good.
I paid 16.50 I think there are still rooms for £19. It was clean, very quiet & had a bath which suited me.

Winston Guesthouse is good. Along the river right near town centre. And if you don't fancy breakfast at 8am on the dot then you can just wander into town!
Waterside hotel has beautiful apartments that can be +-£50 so have a look there too.
If all else fails Inverness Youth Hostel is close to town and cheap and cheerful if youcan get a private room.
