Help! I cant see the light

Options
Last week I was fairly positive about this DF journey, but today I feel as if the lights gone out, or the tunnel has a bend!! I used the new Minimum payment calculator (which is great honestly) but its a stark reminder of the long hard journey. I then received notification of next months interest charges on my bank account and its gone up by £7 (ouch!) might not seem a lot to some guys but when you're watching every damn penny, and I mean every single penny then an extra £7 really hurts - especially when you feel you are trying your hardest to crack a nut and you dont get a break. Im only 2 months into my journey so Im hoping to see interest charges fall....please tell me they will x

Do not give up. Focus on the life you can & will have when you are debt free.

  • Keep going, you're just 2 months into your journey and there's always new hints and tips to find on MSE that might make it easier or clear the debt a little quicker. Right now there isn't much to look back on and be proud of clearing, but in a years time hopefully you'll see a big difference.

There's still a long way to go but with MSE, you'll never feel alone :)
    Thank you competition posters!

Deep breath, it will take a while, it took a while to get the debt, it will take a while to pay it off...

Interest will start to fall, but the early steps feel like they don't really do much, they do though.

Whatever you need to do to keep your chin up... do! Come on here and rant/read through the roll of honour/join challenges/help others by looking over SOAs/keep a diary... whatever but do it, life will get better!

I have, but I think ive overloaded myself with tools and its all a bit overwhelming. I thought I had it all sussed, but the snowball doesnt reflect the minimum payment that Ive been quoted on my credit card bill - . I just feel like Ive trudged up a blimmin big hill and someones shoved me back to the bottom.

Thanks for all the support tho guys, I really dont want to sound ungrateful cos I realise a lot of us are in the same boat x

You don't sound ungrateful, just in need of a little pep talk... so here it is...

Whats the alternative, put your head back in the sand! Ignore all letters, I would suggest buying a shredder, on credit of course!:D

Then just wait for the official receiver...

The world will always throw spanners in your works, I suggest putting the spanners on ebay, you might get a little for it;)

Poor you...I can remember feeling just like you are now. Try to keep your focus...it's going to be really tough at the beginning...this is the bit where you discover if you've really had your LBM, if I'm honest for me at this point denial felt like the easier option (but I'd run out of credit options so I had no choice :o)

It felt like forever before I could see that I was making in roads, and then all of a sudden the tide started to turn, I stopped climbing and found myself on flat ground and then very quickly saw that I was on the right side of the mountain and about to start my decent.

You're in good company on this forum, somebody here will relate to how your feeling or will be able to give you advice if the path ahead gets messy.

Take it one day at a time and good luck xx

Love your pep talk it did make me chuckle :)

Oblivion was a nice place on occasions, but Ive thrown out the bucket and sand so no where to put my head :j- Ive just got to keep going I have no option, its just that the extra interest on my account annoyed me and was unexpected, since my lBM Ive been making myself aware of all payments and not ignoring anything - BUT with all your kind words I wont let it get me down - but Ive just got to hope that my CCs are not gonna come in and expect more money than I have - fingers crossed.
