Debt Free Direct........ Strange!!!

Quick question about whether anyone has experienced the same thing:

I received a phonecall today from a company called Debt Free Direct. A man on the otherside asked me about my recent loan application and asked me to confirm my name. I was quite sceptical to begin with because it felt like a cold call trying to sell me a high interest loan.

However, he asked me about any loans I'd been refused for recently (I was refused back in November by my bank) and said he's here to provide me with the reason I was refused as when I formally asked the bank for a specific reason they failed to provide me with one. The reason he gave seemed viable so I thought everything was kosha. However, after all of this he tried putting me through to debt management advisors and utility advisors and God knows what else, I politely told him no thank you and said goodbye. I've checked the company out online and they seem professional enough but I can't see anything info about them providing reasons to people about why they've been rejected for loans.

I guess my question is has anyone else had the same thing happen? Is it just a clever way to cold call people, or are they kosha and providing real reasons why people were rejected?

  • So you think this was just an elaborate way of cold calling?

    are they kosha
I doubt they are kosher - I suspect them to be bacon-munching, gentile scamsters. :p

If they were any good, would they need to advertise? :p
  • I understand they give debt advice but is part of this advice telling you specifically why you were rejected for a loan application? Seems odd to that they contacted me on behalf of a Yorkshire Bank loan application made 5 months ago.
