Hi. I have bought an evening dress and it was delivered today. It is great and was very MSE. I need the old style team clever ideas though as it is chiffon and has a few creases in it. It says obviously no iron. How do I get the creases out? I have a bit of time before I am wearing it so would a dry cleaners be an idea. I have vouchers I could use. It says it is hand wash and hang to dry, no iron.

Start by hanging it in a steamy bathroom while you bath/shower.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

Hi whizzing,
I would give it a gentle hand wash it and let it drip dry hanging over the shower. If the creases aren't out by the time it's dry do as babyshoes says and leave it in the bathroom where the steam should help the creases to fall out.

I agree to let it hang out in a damp room for a while. That's how I got the creases out of my wedding dress after hauling it home on the plane.:DDec GC; £208.79/£220

I once made a theatrical costume from chiffon and vowed I'd never touch the stuff again. Ditto to the advice about steamy bathrooms but if that doesn't do the trick, I have a suggestion; go to a charity shop which does mainly clothes; they will have a steamer in the back. Perhaps if you offered a donation to the charity they might give it a blast of steam for you? Worth a try. Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will definately try the bathroom idea first although we have extractors in both bathrooms which tends to take the steam away. I can't leave it off as the rooms have no window and you can't see. Thinking now. I could do this as long as nobody was in the shower. If this doesn't work the steamer would be a good idea but I would rather get it steamed professionally. Would a dry cleaners do this? Dress was such a good bargain and a lot less than I had budgetted so I don't mind paying for this. It is also needing a bit off the bottom. I have a place in mind for this - might they have a steamer??0

Very likely, if they are any good!
You can get little hand-held steamers for not a lot of money. I got one in Wilkos a few years ago, but don't have much use for it because it is a bit fiddly to use, runs out of water quite quickly, and its actually easier to iron most things. Can't remember the price, but knowing me it was less than a fiver!
Try searching websites like Argos / ikea etc to see if you can get one cheaply.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
I'd iron it on a very cool iron under a damp cloth.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
