Philips Bailiffs - We've paid but they are still harassing us, what to do?

Hi there,

One of the drivers in our company picked up a penalty charge notice from Westminster City Council last year which we had no idea about and now Philips have been hassling us!!

At the end of last year we had two letters of attendance from bailiffs so we sent them a cheque for the amount stated on the attendance notice but the next day we got another attendance notice. We called Philips and told them we had sent the cheque that same day so the debt would be cleared, but now they are sending us new letters stating we still owe them money and they will send baiiffs round again!

What should we do??

please please help!!

First of all, was the company vehicle actually in London on that day?

As parking enforcement drones are usually delta-minus or worse, it has not been unknown for them to record a vehicle number incorrectly.

How many times did those parasites claim to have attended?

To whom did you send the cheque - to Westminster council or to their performing jackanapes? The latter would, no doubt, have used the payment first to settle their inflated charges before passing on anything left to the council.

If the alleged debt refers only to their collection charges, the parasites would probably have to sue for that money.

It was definitely our vehicle, all the details were correct. Our driver got the fine and stupidly forgot to tell us and forgot to pay until we started getting the letters.
We had two notices of attendance in late December just before Christmas.
We sent the cheque directly to Philips as we haven't heard from Westminster. Could this mean the new amount they are charging is a collection charge? We have thought of sending them a letter telling them to stop harrassing us and that we are going to seek legal advice but I was thinking people on this forum may know best?
