Well, payday tomorrow and I've set my spreadsheet up ready to go. With the changes to the income tax threshold I think I'll be a whole £7 a month better off. Woop.
May is going to be a long hard month, particularly as OH hasn't hit his 'target' at work this month (his job is 90% commission) so I'll have to make up the shortfall. Really really hope he gets a new job soon.
When OH's parents were visiting over the weekend, they invited us to go on holiday with them in June. We wouldn't have to pay for accommodation, as they have property abroad, but the flights and spending money alone are going to be hard to find. Then there's the wedding of OH's cousin in the Med this autumn (cheapest flights currently £300pp, and we'd have to pay for accomm), a 50th wedding anniversary and my cousin's wedding in the summer. WHY is life so expensive

Payday. Relief.
I had to give OH petrol money yesterday as his bank account is bare and he still has over a week till he gets paid. So I was down to my last £5er after that, but bank account has now been replenished, albeit very temporarily.
I've already put £100 in our utilities saving account, £100 in our piggybank account and have topped up my oyster card £30. Need to do a shop at Mr S tonight, but having been given all sorts of food over Easter, hoping to keep it to around £30. Am still wondering what to do with the 2kg of marzipan we were given though
Anyway, looking forward to being off work again tomorrow. I plan to have a monster lie-in, as I've been dead on my feet lately. Also want to plant some veg seeds, and do a bit more tidying in the garden. We may or may not be having visitors on Saturday too. Still, whatever happens it looks like being a more relaxing long weekend than last.
I also need to get quotes for the fence, as I'd really like to get that done this summer, but where I was thinking it'd be about £500, other people seem to think it'll be more like £1,000, eep!MayGC:£118/£360 April:£283

Haven't updated for a while as we have been inundated with family visitors. It has been lovely to see everyone, but I am looking forward to a bit of quiet time next weekend.
Need to keep an eye on the GC total as we're already up to £118 and still have 3 weekly shops to go, eek. I've cut down on alcohol in a big way this year, partly because it was making me lardy and partly because I was getting too tight to spend my hard-earned on it. Decided to indulge at the BBQ we had on Sat night, but will not be doing so again out of principle: my tipple of choice is Mr S's pre-mixed mojito, which has never been MSE, but when I first started buying it 18 months ago it was £4.50, and it is now £7.99. How can they justify that sort of price increase! I didn't really enjoy it in the end because I was so cheesed off. Shan't be buying it again.
Have managed to put £200 into the household fund this month, and done the sums till next pay day. After the food budget and DDs which haven't yet gone out we have about £60, so must remember this and not spend any more on frivolities.
Not sure quite how to cope with the 5-day week either, though hopefully it'll curb my spending if nothing else. Roll on the next bank hol...MayGC:£118/£360 April:£283
