Hi,
Spoke to a mortgage broker on Friday morning and by the late afternoon had an AIG from Halifax.
Today I have the surveyor going to check out the house, if this is ok, how long do the Halifax take to process the rest of the mortgage?
After the valuation has been completed should I keep onto the broker to ensure it goes through as fast as possible?
Thanks,
D

Seems to be progressing smoothly at the moment. So no apparent need to hassle.
Do bare in mind though that there are 4 public holidays in quick succession coming up shortly.0 -
Just as I thought it was progressing well, the surveyor has not turned up today!!!

I've just had a mortgage approved with Halifax - it only took a day or two after the survey for the surveyor to ok the valuation with the bank. It was a week after the survey when I got the detailed survey in the post - I'd paid for the homebuyers report.
As soon as the bank have their valuation approval they are ok to go ahead with the mortgage and send the formal offer off to the solicitor.
Hope you find out where your seveyor got to!
sKiTzThis is WAY more fun than monopoly.0 -
sKiTz-0 - Thanks, how long did it take in total from start to finish?
The surveyor came today, only a level 1 valuation and told me on the way out it was fine.
Anyone tell me about the solicitor costs? Just waiting on hearing from the solicitor about their legal costs0 -
I have had a valuation done on the property I wish to purchase now the Halifax want an employers reference is this normal?0

Pretty normal.
In theory the mortgage adviser shouldnt be instructing the valuation until all checks have been performed reducing the likelyhood of you losing money.
When did you do the valuation and the applicaiton?
We have been subject to completely random case checks by an income verification team so it might be out of the MA's control. If 48 hours have passed and the income on the case hasnt been challenged then you would be in the clear from head office which is why i asked about the dates you applied for the mortgage.
Will the reference be a problem? If not then it will only add a couple of days on to the proceedingsI am a Mortgage Adviser
