Credit Reports...when do they update?

Hello!

I'm currently clearing a couple of Halifax loans and an MBNA cc with some money i inherited and i'm in the process of removing an ex partner from my mortgage.

My mortgage company have told me that whilst i have any outstanding debt - they will not be able to offer me a single person mortgage - which isn't a problem because i have the money to clear it all.

All i want to know is - when i settle the loans and pay off the balance on the cc - When is the best time to get my mortgage provider to start the process of checking my credit score and see that all debts are gone? Is it updated in real time? every week/month ?

I'd assume the larger companies would upate every day but what do i know!!!

Obviously it's something i want to do as soon as possible so i'm finally rid of the ex

Some will update quicker but some only update it every month. Which can due to timings lead to it being say 5-6weeks out of date. If its any longer than that then chase up your creditors.

Very frustrating.....I'm also stuck with a delay courtesy of a lag in timings between credit card and credit file.....my file's at least two week's behind my credit card statement.

Once you've settled the bills, you could register for Equifax's free online trial - i'm sure there'll be a link on here somehwere....That way you can see how your file's showing before the mortgage folk do.

Perhaps then you can shift from being DFW to MFW! And have a whole new signature....
