Are you allowed to mention silver. I thought MSE towers declared the asset class banned?
No, you are totally incorrect.
Threads on the subject of Silver were removed from the "Savings & Investments" Board, because they had gone far beyond the discussions suitable for that board.
No threads on the subject of Silver or Gold have been removed from this board.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT HAMISH THINKS ABOUT SILVER, OR WHAT HAMISH, OR ANY OTHER PERSON FOR THAT MATTER, THINKS ABOUT ANY ASSET CLASS!!! HE'S AN ANONYMOUS, SINGLE POSTER ON AN UNIMPORTANT INTERNET FORUM THAT ABOUT 12 PEOPLE READ!!! HIS OPINION WHETHER SILVER GOES UP OR DOWN IS ABOUT AS IMPORTANT AS WHETHER I THINK IT WILL GO UP OR DOWN. GET A LIFE, STOP LOGGING ON WITH STUPID SILVER USERNAMES AND INVEST IN YOUR SILVER IN PEACE AND QUIET. FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST ON A BICYCLE, NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU AND HAMISH THINK ABOUT THE PRICE OF SILVER!!!!!!
Okay, feel a bit better now.
If we didn't care about what other people on this forum think about asset classes, or anything else for that matter, this forum would either not exist, or it would be very quiet.
And please, keep your voice down.

Well, that's true I guess.
But there's a clear difference between someone like Generali, dopester, Thurgelmir or Julieq giving their obviously educated opinion on an asset and the inane, transparent ramping and dangerous advice given by one, or maybe two or three, people who are obbsessed with silver, have pretty much nothing to say about it other than "buy silver, it's amazing" and create 50 logins to say it.
These people (person?) clearly have no insight whatsoever about silver and have nothing of interest to say about it. And, worse than that, they seem intent of telling people to invest in it, no matter what their cicumstances. As this is, essentially, a money advice website I think it's great to see them PPRed. This forum board matters less as it's essentially just a couple of dozen nutters (including myself) arguing about pointless things, so they probably fit in well here. But the savings and investment board is full of people who create a log in specifically to get financial advice and there are a load of people who give fantastic, thoughtful and, most importantly, tailored advice which is suitable to the person asking the question. It's a real shame, and quite a danger, for nearly every single question to be answered with "buy silver, it's amazing", when it is obviously the wrong investment type for a great deal of people.
And it isn't just a silver thing. I have AIM shares that I'm invested in, very passionate about and am pretty much 100% sure will make me money. Would I advise that a young couple invest their house deposit money in these shares for six months? No, of course I wouldn't, as that would be irresponsible. Thus is it's the same with these silver rampers and it's great to see them banned very quickly for giving such awful advice to people looking for good advice.

If you are pretty much 100% sure you'll make money on those shares, then I think it would be a good idea to spread the good news (with a word of caution on short term investment).30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -

I would, and have, spread the 'good news' on a thread about share buying. But as I said before, if a young couple ask for place to save their house deposit over six months without risking capital then my AIM shares shouldn't even get a mention, as it's completely and utterly not suitable for them. If I suggested that a specific AIM share was always the place to invest / save no matter what the scenario, situation or risk-profile of the investor / saver (which is what these silver people do) then I would rightly be kicked off the savings board.
CAZA, RRL, XEL, GKP, HER, BHR and BLVN before you ask. [STRIKE]Do your own research, your investment can go up or down and you may get back less than you invested[/STRIKE]. Wait, what am I doing? I should take a leaf out of our silver friend's book. Buy these shares, you can't lose. Invest all your money in the safe haven of AIM listed oil penny shares. You'll be rich.0 -

That's one view. Another view is 'live and let live'. Multiple IDs are pretty easy to spot (IP) and ban. Interestingly MSE did not cite this as the reason for the ban, the reason given was they didn't want silver advice on the boards. I expect the volatility of commodities is one reason MSE didn't want the forums to be associated with the promotion of Silver.0 -

No, the reason given, from the link padington gave:-Let's just spell that out:
You may NOT:
Use the forum to give investment advice by way of business, make financial promotions or make misleading statements with a view to manipulating market prices.Murphy was an optimist!!!0
