after giving up all hope of finding where on earth I had put a credit voucher from some Christmas pressies that I returned last year - I found it in an old purse!
Unfortunately it expired in Jan 2011!!!!!!!
Can I write/email/phone their headoffice and claim the money back or has it been lost forever??????
It is for £40!!!! I am so annoyed with myself as that is quite a bit of money to us!

Their terms and conditions on the website state that once the voucher is expired, unfortunately you've lost the money if you haven't used them so legally I don't think you have a leg to stand on.
However there's nothing to stop you writing to them, explaining what happened, that you're a good customer, use them lots etc etc. Nothing ventured and all that, got to be worth a try. They may decide the customer service angle is worth it. If they say no, though, you don't have any other recourse.
Edit - that's for gift cards, but I'm assuming it's the same for credit vouchers. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
thanks for replying elsien.
Thing is I am a good M&S customer - but so to are probably 90% of the British population!
I will try writing to them anyway. The annoying thing is that the things I returned were returned with the gift receipt. had I used the actual receipt I would of had a cash refund.
I know legally I am not intitled to a refund just because I didnt like what was bought, but I bet a lot of people have been caught out this way.
The MIL always staples the actual receipt to the tag on all gifts that she gives. Think I will start doing the same!0 -
I would definitely write to them and enclose the voucher - they might re-issue you with a replacement you never know! Worth a try!0

I would also ring customer services. There's no harm in trying. If they say no try again after a few days and speak to someone else. Some advisors are more symapthetic than others. M & S customer services dept. are quite helpful. Good luckA bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it-

This happened to me with a Next voucher, I wrote enclosing the voucher and the refunded it in full.
Definitely worth a try x0
