Mouldy charcoal briquettes for BBQ - safe to use?

Hello lovely oldstylers,

We've found an old bag of charcoal briquettes for the bbq which have been sitting in the garden shed getting a bit mouldy. There's a coating of fur on each briquette.

Would it be unsafe to burn them (only putting the food on once all the mould has burnt off) or should we throw them? Seems such a shame to throw them away as charcoal isn't the cheapest stuff in the world.

Thanks in advance,

Cait

As you shouldn't start cooking until they all turn grey, any odd mould would be incinerated by then.

    Hi caitybabes

I agree with Mrs Arcanum, any mould will have well and truly burned off by the time you are ready to cook.
