bankrupt with joint bank account

Hi, I am in need of some advice regarding my joint bank account with my husband. I have recently been declared bankrupt under the lila award in Scotland, I recieved a letter stating that as long as my account retains less than £1000 I could make withdrawls, the thing is with my husbands wage going in this month £1500 will mean that we cant make any withdrawls, he has opened up a new account for future wage payments, he is not bankrupt, is there any way we could have his wage released as we need to pay rent, council tax and he has a car payment(direct debits have been frozen). We also have 2 children and need this wage to live on.
Many thanks for reading this.

That's odd, usually banks want more money in the account, not less.
Have you rung them to discuss and explain the situation? When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Thanks so much for replying, yes I have rung them a few times but was really given no advice on how to withdraw the funds, also called the aib and got little or no help from them, they just said that was the problem in having a joint account and that i have to sort it out with my bank but bank wont release hubbies wag as account is no above £1000. also this account is due to close anytime now. Should be okay for next month as i have opened a co op bank account.0

Did you have debts with this bank? I just find it strange that they want to hang on to the money and won't release it to you. What about going into the branch and asking to speak to the manager? When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Hi Ineed,
we dont owe this bank any money im just so worried about them not releasing it will go down to them on thursday.0 -
Can you let us know the outcome please, also if you can find out from them why they have placed such a strange restriction on the account. It just doesn't make sense that if you have more money in the account they won't let you withdraw it, especially as you say your AIB appears not to have placed this restriction. When I joined, I needed a name. You really need to get the AiB to write to the bank and tell them that they (the AiB) have no claim on the money because it is your husband’s wages. They need to instruct the bank to release the money to your husband. Then he can transfer it to a new account. Otherwise, the money will just sit there, frozen and no use to anybody.0
