Help with 65th Birthday buffet

Hi

Im trying to help my mum plan things for my dads 65th birthday this weekend, theyre holding it in our garden etc but im overdue by a week with DD2 so is a very big possibility i won't be there to help with the organising so im trying to write everything down as shes never done a party before and can get very panicky etc

So Can you assist in buffett ideas i can write down for her to sort in case im not here?

Ive ordered the banners, bunting, balloons, and ordered the cake etc
its just the food i need to sort.

Any ideas would be fab

Thanks,

Is she the one cooking? If so, for how many people? Sliced meats are always easy. She can make or order a couple different salads (Caesar, pasta salad). Then she can offer chicken and salmon, with 2 side dishes (spinach, mashed potatoes). Don't forget bread, and you already have the cake!

Potato salad is easy, just don't over cook the potatoes. You can add things like fresh parsley, sliced spring onions. I Make a home made coleslaw in my food processor and it takes 5 minutes, cabbage, carrot and a bit of onion all sliced with the slicer tool loads of good quality mayo and black pepper.
Dips and bread sticks are easy, buy a few packs from tesco or where ever.
What about cold cooked sausages to go with the meat suggested above?

Supermarkets do lots of easy things pork pies, ready made salads. Alternatively ring the local butcher and see what they have on offer at the moment. It doesn't have to be expensive. I think Lidl or Aldi do a nice smoked salmon too.
