Food in sealed plastic containers

i've probably posted this on the wrong boards, however does anyone know is it is safe to eat food sold in one of those sealed plastic containers that they sell meats and fruit salads in, where the container is just about to pop,
i bought a fruit salad last night (not very OS) and this morning the plastic sealed container feels as if its about to pop as its overinflated (it wasnt like this when i bought it)

I would eat it soon. It could be that the fruit is naturally fermenting, when it releases harmless gas which inflates the plastic lid.
If it ferments for too long, it will be rotten as fermenting is the start of the rotting process.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

It'll be fine - it's only fruit, unlikely to contain anything that will make you ill. A bulging meat or dairy product would be another kettle of fish.0

First, smell it. If it smells vinegary or sharp or mouldy, chuck it.
Then taste a little bit. Does it taste fizzy? If it does then it's fermenting quite fast, and the bacteria/yeast might give you Delhi belly. Chuck it.0
