Hi there
Am soon needing to remortgage, and I wondered if there is an easy way of finding out what the average fixed rate % has been in the UK over the past 5 years, and the past 10 years? I've tried Google, but to little avail thus far. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

There's nothing to be learnt from history in this regard. Mortgage rates in general will be far higher in the next 10 years than the previous 10.
Better to make a decision based on your own circumstances at the time.0 -
Well then Sarahdoll:
Qns to ask you:
What mortgage are you looking for?
What value is your house?
What's your take on risk?
Can you afford it for interest rates to jump?
Would you prefer to pay more and get a fix?
Answer these and magicians like Thrugelmir will advise you accordinglyFeb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

There's no benefit knowing what the historical fixed rates were and indeed the rate alone would be grossly misleading without the fee paid to secure that rate as frequently the fee is used to subsidise the offered rate.0
