Credit Report Advice

Hope someone may be able to help with this one.

My friend moved to france about 3 and a half years ago and is now moving back.

He has been reading stuff online about getting a clean credit history on his return.

He told me that the credit report is based on the electoral roll and that if he gets registered at a new address when he comes back and then gets bills for the address and gets a new bank account he will get a new credit history and his old debtors from his old file will be gone.

Now i don't believe it could be this easy so thought i would ask on here.

Surely if it that was easy everyone would do it? or am i missing something?

I want to try and help him as some of his debts will be statute barred by now anyway but i don't know how the credit scores work well enough to know if it will all link up.

any advice appreciated.

Yes it will all get linked up again at some point.

As when you request a credit report it asks for the last 6 years addresses.

    Thanks for your reply.

So what if he didn't apply for a regular bank account and got a basic one with no credit check which is what i have. if he stays in the new address til the 6 years are up will they still link up?

I'm just a but confused by how some people manage to do it but in principle it sounds do-able.

he seems to have read a lot about it but i just worry for him. FYI everyone i owe money to knows where i am and are getting paid.

    yes even basic accounts link
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
