Another HFO services customer

Hi everyone.

I have just started recieving calls from HFO services. I recieved a letter from them around 4 years ago which i ignored, claiming that I owed them 2300 from a barclaycard account. I do admit having the account with barclaycard but have ignored all letters relating to this account. I have checked my credit file and the default date is August 2005.

They do not have my landline number but have my parents number as this is where I was living when i took out the credit card. They are now calling my parents 10 times a day, my parents have not given them any of my information except for my mobile number which they are now constatly calling. It seems that they have found my new address as the nice guy on the phone rad my address to me. I have spoken to them several times but have not confirmed my dob or address. I have not recieced any letters from them but i have my original account number from barclays.

I have read through lots of threads which all seem similar to my case. Should i send them the prove it letter now or should i wait for a letter to come throught the post.

Any help would be much appreciated

Many thanks

Adam

How much do you believe you owed?

Do you reside in England, Wales or Scotland?
  • Hi

I too have just started to receive phone calls from HFO. They have recently purchased an old Barclaycard debt from about 4 years ago, which I though had been paid off. I have had no correspondence from anyone for at least three years, possibly longer and then suddenly I have received two threatening letters from HFO. The only phone number they have for me is my work number and they have started to call me at work, which is really embarrassing. I haven't given this number and wasn't with this employer when I was with Barclaycard so I have no idea how they even got it.

One of my colleagues is screening my calls from them as I really don't want to talk to them at work or at all and I'm not prepared to give them another phone number. However now that I am not available they have started to ask to be put through to my manager. A temp answered the phone today and to my horror put the call through to my boss who fortunately wasn't there.

Can they do this? Surely this has to be a breach of data protection to speak to my boss about a private and confidential matter?

I really don't want to deal with them, any suggestions?

  • Hi everyone

Thanks for all the responces, sorry to hear you are also dealing with these fredo123. Surely they cant harass people in the manner that they are??

Hi culex, i am currently living in england. My original limit with barclaycard was £1900, the last time I heard from barclaycard the amount owed was around £2300. This is the amount in default on my credit file and it still shows barclaycard not HFO as the creditors.

I will hold fire with the prove it letter until i have recieved something in the post. thanks nottoolate

Thanks once again any help is much appreciated

They certainly shouldn't and they need to be told to behave themselves.

The point about Scotland is that, under Scots Law, the limitation period (Limitations and Prescriptions Act) is five years.

Still, with a little lethargy on your part and with the assistance of second class post, it may be possible for this alleged debt to become statute barred. :p
