Halifax sent letter giving me a good will payment???

The Halifax has just sent me a letter saying that they will give me a good will payment of £495. They say that it's because 'the original mortgage offer may not have explained certain details as clearly as it could have, for which we apologise'. Now I know that banks dont give out good will payments in less the feel it could cost them more if they dont.

Has any other members on here had a letter from the Halifax or know if they are trying to pay people to save money in the long run.

Please see the Halifax mortgage page for more details

  • Yes I have also had a letter and wondered the same thing, but will need to go back to my mortgage documents to see what the 1% extra payments means in money terms and if it outweighs the amount of hassle!
