Hey everyone, well it's upon us, that month of the year which can pretty much wreck the rest of the year if not managed properly.
Just wanted to wish everyone happy december and I hope you are all suitable DFW's in your planning and preparation.
Myself, well, I've mainly got pressies for the children, not for OH yet.
No food shopping to date but did get a turkey breast reduced from £10.00 to £3.99 in asda the other day, now sitting in the freezer.:T
Anyway good luck in all your ongoing efforts to keep costs at a minimum, would be good to hear how you're all doing.:D
Cheers

December is going to be a bit of a stressy one for us!
We are suposed to be exchanging on selling the flat today
keep em crossed
we move to the new house next week- we hope
havent booked the removal men yet
dont want to shell out for that till xchange
then weve got Xmas to contend with - Ive done very littel shopping, cat really do much as we are moving house & obviously Im not buying anything really off the high st so I can make the most of my quidco cash back
Somewhere in the middle of all this I NEED to get back to work!
Money flying around all over, but thankfully not on Xmas presents - moving costs! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Good luck everyone, all remember the OS, discounts and freebies threads this year, saved me quite a bit so far.
Hoping everyone has a stressfree (ok that's a bit much) as little stress as possible, and manages to enjoy what the holiday season is really about
Lynz, hope everything goes well, keep us updated
One day I might be more organised...........

*ahem* sorry about that... anyway.. christmas is pretty much sorted for us. All the presents are bought, it's just Dh and I's presents to each other that need buying and then everything's done. Have to finish writing our christmas cards but everything else is done... oh and the tree is going up on the 10th December! Woooo! Can't wait! I love christmas!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

What a lovely post, thank you Triker

Happy December to everyone - pinch and punch and all that!
This month will be a challenge for me and my MSE ways
We are moving house on the 13th and the temptation to buy things for it is great!
It's Christmas and although we have agreed to only get small things for everyone - under £10 - OH has given into psycological blackmail and bought 2 £50 presents for close family. We can afford that but I don't want it to begin the going down the slippery slope!
Also, with it being Christmas and season of eating, drinking and being merry I have to really watch out the food budget - just like everyone else really.
So, many challenges but happy to see the end of this year!Leason learnt :beer:0 -
*Confession* we opened one of the tins of Xmas chocolates, never bought them before as couldn't afford them until this year and the temptation just got too much!
I'm being strict with the Xmas food budget, my first year doing dinner and determined to not let it break the bank so after all these years of easy food I have gone OS, it's quite a change, but a welcomed one
One day I might be more organised...........

Hey all, just got back to the 'puter, been working all day.
Well, firstly GOOD LUCK lynz, everythings crossed that all goes well with the move.
Immoral angel, BEST OF BRITISH to you and yours and your new baby, awwww love babies. Remember you will see your feet again and jeans are not a thing of the past!!
Moozie, you're moving house as well, GOOD LUCK to you as well, my house is up for sale but I'm not moving as live in OH's house.
Lil me, KEEP ON KEEPING ON with that budget, are'nt you good with the budget, I have the determination until temptation comes my way. Or rather some stray thought wafts it's way into my head that I really must buy, find, eat, drink whathaveyou and then all my willpower goes.
Got to keep it together though.;)
I usually make the classic mistake of over catering on the food and booze, under the misguided impression that I have many hungry friends who just might drop in over chrimbo, they don't.
May the festive fairy bring you all many bargains.:xmassmile xxxDFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

this is so true! although when I thought about it, before my lightbulb moment I pretty much managed to wreck the rest of the year with what I spent every month! didn't save it for Xmas!!! :rotfl:
I've got a couple of prezzies left to get but am pretty well organised really. foodwise it's OK too. I think it will be OK this year (thankfully). Low budget though! (hurrah!!) :j :j0 -
Just wanted to add my good luck message to everyone this Christmas. I'm sure with the added awareness of our finances from coming on this site we'll all survive the festivities without contributing to the inevitable "credit card spending at an all time high" statistics you see in January.
Not only am I watching the pennies (I have Christmas savings for the first time EVER) I shall be watching my waistline too. I'm taking almost a month off work after over Christmas, after all the madness at work I really need it. That should help rack up my no spend day tally!
Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year everyone! (ok, I know it's a bit early but I'm feeling seasonal!)

I have just done a meal planner for the next week and been to Asda for my shopping, was really tempted to get some Christmas stuff but Im going to wait otherwise it will all be eaten by the 25th
Got a couple of prezzies to buy and got my cards to write yet but I have promised myself that I will not be wrapping and delivering cards and prezzies on Christmas eve this year
I WILL be organised
Decorations are going up tomorrow and any left over are going to a car boot sale or freecycle - Im on a clear out mission
I hope you all manage to have as little as possible stress this December and manage to enjoy your Christmas :xmassign::cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0
