Hi all
A quick question for you all. When the CSA are asked to close a case by both parties how long would it take until the case is actually closed and confirmation received?

It would depend if there was any debt on the case or not.
If there was no debt, and both parties agree that they would like the case closed, rather than changed to Maintenance Direct, then the case would be closed once the CSA had spoken to both parties.0 -
Thats what I thought. No debt involved but I've been told it will take up to 3 weeks?0

Hmm, is the case currently with Client Services? Is it old rules or new rules?
If the PWC has called in to request the closure then they should really be starting the closure actions there and then...if there are tasks outstanding then they sometimes have to do some behind the scenes work. As Child Maintenance is always based in arrears there is sometimes one final payment after the closure has been requested, so it could be that they have ended the liability now, but are waiting for that last payment to be made.
Were payments on the case being made by direct debit, or was there a Deduction from Earnings order?0 -

Hi
thanks for the reply.
It is CSA2 (or hopefully was). The CSA case was on a nil assessment and we are waiting for the confirmation of closure before we can begin a private arrangement. Previous payments were by DD.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'Client Services'?
Thanks!0 -

Sorry, Client Services is just the 'normal' department who deal with most CSA cases, if they're not with Debt Enforcement.
Hmm, if it's nil-assessed, with no debts, then I honestly don't understand why they're saying it may take weeks - could be worth giving them a ring, and asking them to clarify what the hold-up will be.0 -
Thanks will do0
