Token Payments

Hi,

I have sent two signed for letters to MBNA offering £1 token payments and asking to stop interest/charges as i am in financial difficulty. They didn't reply to the first letter but have now replied. I have already made two £1 payments - it has been about 6 weeks since i first wrote to them.

However, all they say is - thankyou for completing an income/expenditure form. Please telephone to discuss.

I really wanted to avoid speaking to them on the phone and wanted to do it all by letter. Anyone have advice on how to deal with this and what to do next?

Many thanks

  • Hi, carry on paying £1 and you don't ever HAVE to speak to them on the phone as they will pester you to pay more, etc. I'd just send them the same letter as before & include the sentence "I have been advised not to speak to any of my creditors on the phone and I wish to communicate only in writing..." They'll get it eventually!
