I was the same quintwins and put off doing it until I had to pay a bill but it was easier than I expected. You will be asked to create a new 4 digit numerical password and then you log in with your new login number that they provide you with, the new password and one of the codes from your card. It told me that there were now 79 codes left on my card so I assume they will send a new one before I have used all 80 up?0

Easy enough to get set up and a very secure system, which is what we all want, n'est-ce pas?
A new card will automatically be sent out once you've about 10/15 unused codes left.
Like most new things, it's all about getting used to it and then you wonder how you ever did without it.0 -
i have set it up now, but now to log into my ebanking i need to find the letter with my id number (surely i can save this somehow) and dig the card out, where as before i just entered my password don't get me wrong i do want safe internet banking, but i usually check my banking every day i'm less liekly to do that nowDEC GC £463.67/£450

I'm hoping the site remembers the new ID number - it always remembered the old one. Then all i need to remember is the 4 digit password and where I've left the card. :eek:0

I gave up on Northern Bank ebanking ages ago. This card thing is a complete nonsense. What if I don't have it to hand, what if the kids start treating it like a calculator (which has happened), what if the bank bigwigs realise that it's all too much hassle for us simple folk.0

Did all this and tried to log in again next day with my newly created 4 digit password which I had written down. Northern Bank site didnt recognise it -I stupidly tried a few times and it locked me out! - now have had to request a new one which will take 10 days to arrive.0 -

One point - the default is to send out a new card when you've only got (I think) 10 codes left, but you can change this after you log on - so if you check your account often (or don't trust the speed at which the Northern sends out its mail), setting it to send a new card out when there are 20 codes left may be better.0 -
When you hear of all the technological advances with banking it seems that yet again NI is being left in the 1980`s!! They have taken a very simple concept and over complicated it to the extreme.........0

I am in total agreement with both of you. I hate those card readers and refuse to bank with any institution that uses them.Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs
