Hi
You'll need an account not connected with any of those banks as well. Before you apply for a bank account check these tables so you can see which banks are linked for offsetting. http://www.payplan.com/debt-news/2011/01/20/right-to-offset/
The c-op cashminder account is popular.
See this link http://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/_assets/downloads/pdfs/your_money/a5_guides/basic_bank_accounts.pdf (pages 6&7) for the facilities you can have with each of the basic bank accounts on the market.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
It's of any help, I was in a similar situation needing to set up a bank account with someone not connected to my main creditors.
I have used the Co-operative Bank. The set up was simple and I've been with them for about 9 months and no problems at all.£29,500+ of debt cleared Jul 2010 >> Dec 2011.....
Now facing same again with £65,000 :mad:0 -

I just wanted to add - the Payplan list of who owns who is slightly out of date. Egg are now owned by Barclays, so just bear that in mind as well..0

MBNA are backed by bank of america.
You should be fine with Co-op. The only other bank they are linked to is Smile.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
i can recommend the Co-op cashminder account as a good basic account
- Internet banking
- Telephone helpline for help, information and balances
- No overdraft facility :T
- Visa Debit card
- Linked savings account if you want one
- Access to account via Post Offices
DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499
28th October 2019 - £13,505 - 27% paid off.
