Help!!

Hey guys!

i have got to the point now i am trying to sort out the debts that i have but the isue i have is for years i have thrown away letters etc and havent a clue who i owe what to! now when i add it up in my head and i also did it a few years back i owed around £10,000 i have just done an equifax and experian report and there both coming back with the same and i only owe £2000????? i dont understand!! help!! :eek:

Are you still getting letters? Start looking through them and write down all the info.

If you originally defaulted on some of your agreements more than 6years ago then those accounts would no longer be showing on your credit file (as accounts automatically 'drop off' your file 6years after a default).

Unfortunately it doesn't mean you don't owe the money though.

As triggles says a good idea is to start keeping any letters that come through and to start making a list of all the debts you think you should have. Could you do a rough list of who the original creditor was, how much you think you probably owe and the current status of each debt (eg making payments/not making payments etc).

Can you give us a bit of background, when did you first start missing/stopping payments? have you been making any payments to your creditors (or debt collectors) recently?

Edit - sorry just seen your age, presumably non of your credit agreements are as old as 6years. Who else do you think you owe money to? If its to utility companies, council tax etc then these debts don't show on your credit files.

Im in a total mess guys i no it hasnt been 6 years its been 2 - 3 some maybe 4 but definatly not 6. I dont get many letters anymore as ive moved house so much i just dont no what to do or where to start anymore ive put some in my signature the ones i no about! found a couple of letters so it is more than £2000 just no idea how much more x

£83.33 a month for christmas is very high! Thats £1000 just for xmas? I have a very large family and only spend £500 at the most.
Could you go longer between haircuts?
And is £30 a month on clothes needed? Obviously childrens clothes are, but can you live with what you have for now?
