That is exactly what he is doing talking about it, even going and looking (or gawping) at it.

But at the end of the day where others have given millions to charity, he decided to keep his.

I am sure that £2m in his back pocket would have made a bit of a difference to the people he went to visit.

Talking about raising cash for a scanner, why not just donate your testimonial cash and buy the scanner?

I am from Leeds, so my argument towards Ryan Giggs may be a little biased.

I was going to guess Liverpool or Leeds ;) I would have thought being a Yorkie you would bow down to those with short arms and deep pockets :) unless of course you are actually Irish.

    1/2 Irish :D

The thing with Ryan Giggs is though, on one hand is trying to make out he does so much for charity, while on the other he is pocketing £2m from a testimonial that others regularly give to charity nowadays.

He then also talks about other players that don't do enough for charity.

Then to top it all off he goes on to talk about raising cash for a scanner, he could probably buy the scanner or sponsor it with a couple of weeks wages.

To be fair it is not just Ryan Giggs though. I just don't like all these "charity" people, same goes for all those idiots who recently went to Africa for comic relief, Lenny Henry jumps out the most. Going to stay with a family in a hut in Africa, whilst asking for ordinary people to make donations, then when the programme is over he goes back to his mansion and millions in the bank.

I have a thing about most charities in general.

I also don't like the fact that you will have a charity raising money, but then out of this money you will have various directors or organisers who will be pocketing massive salaries for all the "good work" they do.

Anyway, rant over, back to what the thread was about... :rotfl:

Come to think of it, I have a good idea, when I retire I will start a charity, the make Liam A Millionaire foundation. I might also ask Ryan Giggs if he wants to be a patron and I will slip him a few quid for his troubles. :rotfl:

This reminds me of a short story I once heard on the radio. A guy in a low paid job (I think he was a church warden or suchlike) gets the sack because his employers discover that he is illiterate. He is forced to do something different and goes into business, becomes successful, and is eventually a millionaire. The story closes with someone saying to him, "just think what you could have become if you had been able to read and write?"
Yes!, says the millionaire, (with a little chuckle) I know very well what I would have become, A church warden"!

Tales of the unexpected, episode 106 "The Verger"?

    (search for "tt0717512" on imdb)
