Countdown to 40 from a new MFW

I have been lurking for some time and have decided that I need to start a diary to keep me motivated.

I am 28 and have three children. We live in the middle of a city suburb on a busy road and no garden (just a yard). I love my house but I dream of living in the countryside. My middle son has some learning difficulties and Autism and because he is settled into school we cannot move at the moment, but we would like to be MF as soon as is possible so that when time is right we can move.

I have opened a savings account and everything spare will go into it, as well as a DD for £200 a month from both me and DH. He likes nice things and has always been a bit reluctant to live frugally but I think I have convinced him.

Have had a look at our figures and we owe £120,690 (we are currently on IO) at 2.99%.

We are off to Majorca in August so some of our money is going to that, so once thats paid off in June we can use the other money towards some OP's. I am also going to put any money that I get from Ebay/Surveys and Quidco into the savings account too.

Feeling very positive and am going to set myself a target of £5000 before next March 2012 to be able to Overpay. Will see if I can do it but I do love a target. Have started off bu putting £10 in today, so only £4990 to go :D

    Morning everyone.

Up very early this morning and have had some money from Paypal (from MySurvey) so thats another £21 into the pot, I have looked at my pending items and I have another £5.17 to come from Ciao tomorrow, and £70.60 is on its way from Quidco so that will bring me to over £100 already.

Have been looking at our grocery budget and seeing what I can trim off. Its always quite high as DS2 has a very select but expensive diet, however I do think we can cut some corners and save a few pounds a month. I dont eat meat and if I can pursuade my DH to follow I think we could save quite a bit.

  • Still feeling positive this morning, and have paid £12.50 into savings, plus £5.17 from Ciao. I have decided that I am going to stop doing reviews on Ciao for a while, as they take up alot of time that I just dont have at the moment. Am still doing lots of surverys and my 4 items on ebay all have multiple watchers, just waiting for people to bid!
