Fertility...

We've been TTC for a year now, with one 'chemical' pregnancy in february this year. Getting really down about it now. Just wondered if anybody could give advice as to what steps to take regarding fertility treatment. My GP is not interested, because we have only been TTC a year they wont do anything
Can you get anything done without a referal?

Unless you are of an age where time is a massive issue (near menopause) most GPs won't. It can take two years or more before you conceive naturally, so give it time. You can approach private clinics directly and ask their advice on referral/direct services, but perhaps your GP is giving good advice in saying wait and see.
My mum always said stop thinking about getting pregnant and just do it for fun. If you spend all your time thinking 'must have baby' it will eventually get in the way of everything else and stress will affect your body chemistry too. One couple she said it to had just finished a third unsuccessful round of IVF. Their little girl was born naturally, without fertility treatment, 13 months later.
Good luckSome days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

thankyou for the reply. I already have a daughter from a previous relationship, it took a year exactly to conceive her. I know what you mean about not thinking about it, the month I got pregnant with my DD was the month I was going on holiday, and was actaully the only month I was thinking, 'if I'm not pregnant its fine, because I will be able to have a drink and let my hair down' <which I needed as it had been a stressful 12 months. But low and behold 2 days before my holiday I found out I was expecting!! Then this year in february, we were in the process of moving house so were very busy, meaning I hardly gave trying for a baby a second thought, and I couldnt believe it when I got a + pregnancy test, but sadly 2 days later the bleeding started
I am very aware of the whole 'dont think about it and it will happen' and I do think it is true. It's just very hard to not to think about it!0 -
