No more sell by dates?

According to the article the plan is just to have a use by date and get rid of sell by/display until/best before dates. Good plan to reduce waste but will it mean no more yellow sticker bargins?

Most of the things I see reduced in my local Tesco are fresh goods with a "use by" date so they would still be yellow stickered. Not that they're ever a bargain though, 40p off a £5 chicken anyone? I always feel a bit envious when I read about people getting great yellow sticker bargains because my Tesco never knocks much off the price.

My Tesco is exactly the same, I don't even visit the yellow sticker fridge anymore. The best yellow stickered stuff comes from Iceland first thing in the morning and the Co-op late morning.

I think there'll still be yellow stickers when they reach their use by date.

I think that this sounds like a real cop out. The supermarkets will still gain by leaving what amounts for many people to an instruction to throw food away, but they look better because their bins will not be so full.
Currently I gain by buying reduced items, but if I were to be altruistic I would call for the removal of all dates (maybe substitute with a harvest/laying/packaging date) and a return to decision making by the consumer.

Could Chemical bath make Chicken safer?

including dousing all carcasses in a chemical wash and even irradiation

it seems the most likely option is washing the carcasses in one of a number of solutions, including chlorine, salt or lactic acid.
