Can anyone recommend a financial self help book to become a DFW?

Hi
My mum has offered to buy me a financial self help book for Christmas. Can anyone recommend a good one??
I am desperate to become a DFW, but we are still in the position where we are spending more than we have coming in and are getting nowhere in clearing our debt. Things are going to be even more difficult from the New Year as I am going back to work after having a baby and am reducing my wage significantly, plus having to fork out for childcare when I am there!
I need something to sort me out and know how to organise our finances better!!
Thanks

Hi debsley pig
There's a suggestion you might not have considered yet and that's an audio book. Basically books on tapeWhilst at first thought you might think they're only for the blind or whatnot, actually they are very popular and you can shove them on your MP3 player or burn them for your CD player (they usually come as MP3's downloaded or on CD and you can rip them to MP3 to suit however you can listen to them).
They're really handy for most, especially busy people, because you can turn boring time in your life (like cleaning up after your kids have gone to bed, going to work and doing housework) in to productive learning and motivational time. Plus as you're listening, the boring task you're doing (and have both hands and eyes free to do!) gets done quicker and they're less boring as the time passes much quicker. I often listen to audio books when doing the ironing, and it feels like I've not done ironing for years
There are a few self-help audiobook fans on the forum and a couple of threads on the subject. Maybe you could ask for a pass at audible.com or something as a gift? (Although I must tell you, albeit maybe illegal, it is possible to download a wide range of self-help audiobooks from "other" sources if you get what I mean;nod nod).

Hope this helpsMartin's_Money_Tips_E-Mail wrote:The MoneySavingExpert.com User Deal
The Book hits the shops on 14 Dec at £7.99, yet I’ve pushed my publisher into allowing site users to get it earlier via a deal with Play.com. Order it before midnight on Friday 1st Dec, via this special link and it’s £5.49 including delivery and you’ll get it by 12th. I can't say for sure it'll never get cheaper but it's definitely cheapest right now. As part of this Play’s also dropped the price of my own Money Diet book to £5.49 too (read more & see Amazon customer reviews).
As a nerdy note, if you are buying both books, rather than just one, and spend over £15 in total at Amazon, it’s a smidgen cheaper there, but you don’t get it early (full details).

It's a book called "How to get out of debt, stay out of debt & live prosperously". It's an American book, but most of what is in it can be applied here too. I've got a copy and have found it really useful.
There are also Martin's books as have been mentioned before.
Good luck.BCSC # 9 and proud! :beer:0
