Have you ever had and argument....

And suddenly found out exactly what someone close to you really thinks??
I've just had an argument with my Mother (she has now walked out) bascially it's been about how I apparently speak to her like she's a child, how I never get anything around the house right... she turned round at one point and said she can't afford to replace things. I replied with 'neither can I' and basically had:
'well whose fault is that? I've never made any mistakes with money. I'm disappointed you've messed up'
I know it doesn't sound bad written down, but we have always been close and to know she thinks that isn't helping.
I know I've made mistakes, no one is perfect. But it feels like some support has disappear.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing and how do you deal with it???

In an argument when one or both go on the defensive its human nature to hurt one another, a sad fact I know but we all do it.
In the heat of the moment things are said and are probably not meant, I've done it myself so many times and lived to regret it.
Don't feel bad, its obviously your biggest insecurity and she stooped low to hurt you, but i bet it wasn't mean't. Don't fall out over it, but let her know when you speak again how hurt you were.
Maybe you need to listen to her too, she feels as though you speak to her without respecting her as a parent. A little bit of give and take I think, life is too shortLBM: 22.12.2010 :j Self-managed DMP start 29.1.2011DMP Mutual Support Thread No: 4130 -

Arguments are all about heat of the moment and going a bit further down the road to wound with words, not recommended with loved one's. She is your mum you love each other she has been there for you and you for her don't let one 10 minute episode wreck your relationship forever. Give her a call and say sorry things got a little heated and you don't want to go to bed without making up she will be feeling just as bad as you...good luck x0
