    Current Rightmove average price: £231,790 (link)

    Rightmove average in 2002 from the BBC article Elton linked to:
    £156,084 or £190,422.48 in today's money (link)

    That's an average annual increase of about 4.75% in nominal terms or a little over 2.3% a year if you adjust for inflation. That's not as much as you'd imagine or at least not as much as I'd imagine anyway.

    I'm sure he'll thank you for that link later. He almost ruined the original copy he had, due to "spillage".
