studentcardtart

Can anybody give me advice?
I am a mature student. I'm back at Uni studying Business Management. I was working full time before I went to Uni so I was card tarting and had a lot of finacial pressures at the time. I managed to get in to over £2000 of debt on two cards (this includes all the books I had to buy for my course)and while I was waiting for the student load to come through I had to eat.. I went £250 overdrawn. I am now in a situation where I have £260 to live on till February(I do have a buffer zone on my student account of £2500) but It's just a scary situation..
Most people who goto university don't start off with debts..Should I get a low interest loan to pay the credit cards off or try and tranfer them again to a 0% account??
I know I don't owe as much as some people on here, but it is still very depressing being a student. I still want to live like I have a job!

Hello Student,
Initial impressions are that you are spending beyond your means and need to cut back! I think you hint at that in your last paragraph. If you are not in employment, you cannot spend and live as if you are.
Best idea is to put together a statement of affairs ('SOA') detailing what you spend on what. Use the links at the top of this page (under the budget planner - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/budgeting ) and the permanent page at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=107280 for details on how to do this.
Publish the SOA on here, and then people can assist you in getting to grips with your spending.

Hello and welcome
You have found us so now let us help you! As suggested already, put your SOA up and we will help as much as we can.
Are you working full/part time? I hope you have another income other than the student loan.
Best of luck :beer:Leason learnt :beer:0
