Fraudulent to knowingly accept someone else's tesco clubcard points?

Hello, yes I have been stupid and unobservant but to cut a long story short... There are 3 clubcards registered to this address.
I linked my Eon gas and electricity accounts to a clubcard I had in a drawer, thinking it was one of these clubcards.
Time goes by, I phone tesco to ask why the points never show on my statement, they say must be on another older card number but don't worry, your points are there. I leave it for another year(lots of other things happining in life) and decide to ask again.
Eon give me the clubcard number linked to their bills so I can ask tesco.
I ask tesco, give them my name and they say: "That's not the name we;ve got here and due to data protection I cannot comment on anything"
It then dawns on me that it could be the card that was jointly used by myself and my ex from 5 years ago. I had my own clubcard and a joint one with my ex.
Now, for the past 2 years that it's been linked, the Eon clubcard points have been going to that person(who I assume is my ex but could even be someone else for all I know as they won't name them).
Eon say tough, not our problem. Tesco won't even discuss it.
Whoever is getting my points must not be with Eon as I don't think you can link 2 separate addresses with different names to the same card. Or if they have, should tesco or Eon not have noticed that?
So assuming that this other party is not an Eon customer and has been seeing every clubcard statement that they are getting Eon points which they are not entitled to, have they in any way committed fraud by accepting it and not owning up.
Yes I know I am stupid for not noticing but I'm not dishonest.
I've e-mailed tesco.
Surely they can either, deduct points from that 3rd party for being dishonest(even if it makes their clubcard points a minus figure) to punish them for their dishonesty or if they can't do that, why don't they issue my clubcard points to me as a goodwill gesture to keep a long term customer happy. I spend a lot of money at tesco.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.

Well, the thing is, you gave eon that card number, not the other person. It'd be like signing up and putting your mum's clubcard number down so she could have the points - you're giving them permission to add points onto whatever card number you supply them with. So sorry, but I think this is a live and learn moment.0

I'd agree , you gave them the incorrect card number rather than them link it to the wrong oneEx forum ambassador

Also does anyone actually read where the points came from? I just take the vouchers off the mailing and shred the rest...probably the other person hasn't noticed where they came from....0

Yes, like I said I was stupid no need to keep going over that.
The back of the clubcard statement shows where the points come from.
Is it against tesco's clubcard rules or is it fraudulent for another person to knowingly accept my points when they know full well that those points are not theirs?0 -

To be fair, it took you over a year to chase it up and they were your points. Are you expecting your ex to have phoned up to tell them he was getting points that weren't his? How many points have you lost out on?0 -
I also asked tesco about a year ago and they didn't investigate hard enough.
They should have told me back then to check the way they told me to today and also they told me that there were more than one card at this address and when I asked them they said the cards could not be merged.
I found out today they can merge cards no problem.
In that case should the operative a year ago have said the cards cannot be merged****because they are in different names?**** Then it would all have come to light back then and the damage would be less.
I accept I made a mistake but I have asked about these points before and the tesco call centre operatives were not interested enough to check the accounts properly last year. Had they just dug deeper, say a few extra clicks of a mouse and gone into another screen(eg. tried), I might only have lost a few months of points and not a year or two.
I made the error, true, but they missed an opportunity(tesco call centre) to solve it a while back because they couldn't be bothered to look hard enough at my problem and just shrugged it off with "don't worry your points are there - ok"0 -
Yes, in all honesty, if I was getting my ex's points I would not be happy with that and I would have dealt with it(owned up to my financial loss but do what's morally right). I hate dishonesty.
It was about 2 years of dual fuel gas and electricity.
Every pound I spent on gas and electricity, my ex or this mystery person gets a tesco clubcard point(and no doubt knows what's going on if they are not with eon and the statement says on it points from eon).0 -
In fact I've just worked it out, it can't be a huge sum of money but I just hate the dishonesty and the fact I asked tesco a long time ago and they didn't deal with my request properly.0
