Roxbrough, HFO and 3G Debt collecting

Hello there,
This is a long story so you might want to make yourself comfortable.
It all started in Sep 2004 when I was attacked very badly and had my phone stolen. I was in hospital for a couple of weeks. My mum rang 3Mobile to inform them that my phone had been stolen. They never got back to me so I assumed it had been cancelled.
One year later I received a letter (from a debt collecting firm that i can't remember the name of) saying that I owe about £700'ish. I contacted them asap and gave them my crime number and they cancelled the debt there and then.
Now in the middle of 2009 I got a letter from HFO Services saying that owe over £1000. I spoke to them and explained that the debt had been cancelled 4 years ago. They said this was not the case and that I need to pay asap. I then sent a letter with crime number and explained that it is very distressing to keep going over what had happened. They kept ringing so I just stopped answering my phone.
Another year later (may 2010) I received a letter from Roxbrough saying i owe over £1400. Again I explained everything but they just didn't care as always.
I then started looking at forums and sent the consumer action group letter and contacted Trading standards, OTF and consumer direct. And they left me alone UNTIL TODAY.
I received a phone call from a solicitors saying they were calling on behalf of Roxbrough. She asked if she could confirm my name and postcode. I was at work so didn't want to loss my temper I said NO and hung up.
All I need to now has anyone been taken to court by Roxbrough or are they just trying there luck as 6 years will be up in May.
Sorry that this is so long winded but it's been a long running thing.:(

Hi David
You say the 6years will be up in May, but when did you actually last pay anything at all to anyone for this debt? presumably back in 2004? have you ever written to acknowledge that you owed this money? If you haven't then it sounds like the debt is likely to already be statute barred
I suppose the wording of your letter sent in middle of 09 will be the key thing and whether that could be construed as admitting the debt. Would you still have a copy of that letter at all?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Yes I've got all the letters stored away. I did make shore that in all letters that I said that I do not owe this money as the debt was canceled in 2005. I would have to get the letters out to find the extact wording but they are along them lines.0

In that case I thinks its likely that it will already be statute barred from what you have said.
I would wait and see if they send you a letter following today's call.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hopefully, thanks very much I'll let you know.0

did you have insurance? a monile provider wouldnt normaly cancel a debt due to be attacked or stolen,Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Yes i did but they never attempted to replace phone or contact me. And at the time I had a bit to much going on to care about a phone. Roxbrough have since said that because I (myself) did'nt contact them within 24 hours of the phone being stolen with the crime number that it is my fault. But that was a bit hard as I was having my face stitched back together. But surly that's not the point now know IS IT as that was six and a half years ago.0

yes you would of been liable to contact the insurance, hard pill but you would be liable.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
