  • Hello Anniek,

    Few points:

    1. If you husband maintained the monthly payments from his wages for the PC, how long is left until the computer is fully paid for? If it the scheme I think it is, it was a governement scheme to allow people to pay for PCs from pre-income tax income which employers could offer to employees.

    2. It may be an idea for yuor husband to keep the bus drivers job UNTIL everything has been paid off and enough money has been saved up to cover the initial costs of setting himself as a taxi driver.

    3. Would he be a self employed taxi driver? THere may be other benefits he is getting as a bus driver that are not covered by the taxi firm/being self employed - e.g. sick pay, life insurance, pension etc. and therefore it may not be as clear cut to think that a move from a bus driver to taxi driver is better.

If I were you, I would sit down with your husband and think through the timing of resigning from his current job - and see if you cannot put this off for a few months at least until you have the money to pay for all the bills and start up costs associated with this move.

    Good luck!
