I always wash my new jeans in about 500grams of salt before I wear them. I found this out on this board and it saved my cream sofa covers which were constantly in the wash before.

Just put the salt in the drum with some washing powder and give them a quick wash. If they are very dark do it a couple of times. I think the salt sets the dye.

I second the salt wash - but do it on a very low temp. The colder the better. You can even just soak them in a bath of cold salt water over night too.
  • Definitely wash a couple of times first before wearing together (30 wash?).

Thanks for the help. I can change the temp to whatever I choose so I can have a cold wash or 30. Am I best washing each one on their own or can it be done together apart from the black as the rest are similar colours? Would I need to adjust the amount of salt?
