Debt Company Chasing

Hi Everyone.

My Partner is being chased by a company called EOS solutions who are working for one of the water companies.

This debt goes back a couple of years and she was a single mother etc and just couldnt afford to pay etc

Over the past few months we have she has received 3-4 letters from EOS Solutions.

She is disputing the figure of £600

The latest letter say it will be passed onto 'the directors office and the following may happen...'

1, Your account could be transfered to solicitors(any costs incurred could be added to this bill)

2, Your account could be transfered to one fo our filed reps

Can they legally do this?

Would they have bought the debt from the utility company?

In my own experience i know such companies will settle for half the amount I they receive one lump sum.

There is no way we could afford to settle the whole bill

Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated

    Hi

Has she replied at all to these letters? has she written to dispute the amount being claimed?
Usually we would suggest starting by sending the prove it letter or a combined prove it letter and don't visit me at home letter

If you do plan on offering a reduced amount to settle the debt then its worth following the national debtline guidelines on F&F and making sure the offer is in writing etc before you pay.

  • thank you for your reply.

no she has not replied to any letters yet. she is to scared to deal with these people.

I am looking into at the moment.

i am not sure what to do myself really - igoring seems to be the easiest option but probably the the best long term option.

£600 does seem a lot for a water bill to be fair.
