***advice first shopping list new place + meal plans required ***

Hi all

Right so I am moving into a furnished property tomorrow !! only just found out…. Have been having problems at home which is why moving out which is why I’m trying to make a list of everything I will need for at least a week maybe 2 weeks. Basically I get paid weekly and need advice because I always over spend and I have now not got the money to do that. Rent is higher than any other palces I’ve rented S: I can afford but shopping will be working out to £20 a week which if this sounds good enough let me know.

This is shopping list at moment anything you can recommend to take off and/or to add and some meal plans it is just me and my 2 cats so got no one else to feed and they are on a diet and back on Purina instead of science plan have tried to them on whiskers, go cat, iams and cheap cat food from poundland but they point blank won’t eat it even if its been down there for 2 days so I guess Purina is only option

Please let me know anything I can change add remove and meal plans will be a great help I have a microwave oven and a fridge freezer but nothing like steamers or slow cookers at moment but when able to I am planning to get these bit by bit.

might also be good to mention that i am allergic to nuts and seafood (but fine with tuna and fish fingers lol) so unfortuantly can't put these into plan.:o

    Hi willhelpifican

Will help if I can by saying this would be better placed subject-wise on the OS Board, perhaps the Board Guide will move!

However, I would say on your budget, buy a bottle of value bleach for the loo and a bottle of Stardrops or similar value all-purpose cleaner for everywhere else and cross all those assorted cleaning products off your list, skip the fabric conditioner and spend the money on food for yourself and /or building up your stocks in cupboard instead as you don't seem to have much on your list to keep you going for 2 weeks at all to me!

And on topic for this forum, have you got a vast stash of toiletries you can work your way through as I don't see them on your list?

:D Best of luck in the new place!
  • Hi Bronnie

I did have alot of toiletries to go through but the housemate i'm living with now decided to chuck it all out last night including all my cleaning products and most of my food..... but got enough toiletries for 2 weeks so haven't included that in this one.

Will cross the cleaning stuff off i prefer bleach and will use this instead luckily its only a small 1 bedroomed house so not to bad :D on the food side i have tea and lunch so looking for creative sandwich ideas as well as normalyl stick to cheese and onion or cheese and tomatoes and looking to try news ones.

I lvoe cooking which is why there is more pasta on list because its easier to do but other ideas are good as well i will ask if this can be moved i wasn't sure where to place it :o

    thank you so much xx

This is a bit long, but please bare with me.
    Hi,
    My username says it all.
I love lists and couldn't live without them.
I plan all my shopping and meals are listed weeks in advance, this helps if there is a problem with me not being able to get to Supermarket or any other issues.

This is how I would start:
    Milk
    Bread
    Butter
    Eggs
    Sugar
    Tea Bags and/or Coffee
Orange Juice (You might not drink tea)
    Toliet Tissue
    Kitchen Towels
    washing Up Liquid
    Bleach
    4 pk of beans
    4 pk of spaghetti
    fish fingers
    sweetcorn
    tuna
    mayonnaise
    cheese
    salt
    pepper
    mince
    pasta

For meals and sandwiches, you could make up a bowls worth of tuna and sweetcorn with some mayo and keep this.
Tuna and pasta same as above
Cook up some spag bowl and freeze the rest
You could also try I think it's tuna paste or sandwich filling.
    Cheese and branston sandwiches
    Ham & Pickle.
    Philly and pasta

Can't think properly, got loads of ideas flying around in my head.
If I come up with any more, I'll post.

    Hope this helps! :)

for all purpose cleaner I put a small squirt of washing up liquid and a small squirt of bleach into a spray bottle and top up with water, this costs pennies and cleans pretty much anything.

    I do this too!!!

Also - not sure if you have leather sofas, but i make a diluted solution of fabric conditioner and water to clean them.
