Hi All,
I wonder if anyone can help me, I started rebuilding my credit using martins advice 2 years ago. Lasy year I noticed and entry for t-mobile on my credit file. Though it wasnt showig any defaults I contacted equifax to get it removed as that contract ended in 2009. The background of this is I had a t-mobile internet contract in 2008 3 months later the dongle was stolen while I was in hospital.
I contacted T-mobile to get a replacement they wanted £50 I said I cant afford that so I asked them to disconnect it and could I exit the contract. They said they would disable it but I would still have to pay the line rental. After some uming and arring I agrred to pay to the end of the contract and I would not renew I wanted it cancelled, they agreed.
Back to the present, since I contacted equifac about this, they have reiniated the old direct debit 2 years later and putting derogatory status on my credit file. I asked equifax to put a not on my credit file against this explaning the situation they have been no help. I have tried writing to T-Mobile and explain to them all I got back was a threating letter saying if I didnt pay I would never be able to own a t-mobile product again - big deal.
Yet they still continue to mark me in arrears for a contract I dont really have with them.
Can they get away with just accessing somebodys account and restarting an old contract without the customers knowledge?
I am at a loss of what to do now.
Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated.
regards
Adrian

After agreeing to pay the line rental until the end of your contract, when the contract ended did you specifically contact Tmobile to close your account with them?
When you saw the account on your file last year did it say the account was closed/settled or open? when had it last been updated? and what was the payment status?
If you want to put a notice of correction against any account on your file you are entitled to do so - you just need to inform equifax of the note you want to add - but I would be careful about what you put on as sometimes people add notes that make the situation worse rather than better.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
