Lol, 20+ years mate, 20+ long years, happy to be out though. Hopefully this thread will lead to agents old and new understanding where home collected credit and their job is heading.

Well its clear that the policy is to drive through the 500 redundancys and to give the managers left less actual agents to manage by getting rid of smaller agents and giving there customers to remaining agents and creating bigger books with a smaller headcount.

They want agents left to work full time 5/6 days a week.

we all know the best performance was on the smaller agency so this is just going to accelerate losses in customers and quality in my opinion. Why any agent would want to work full time with no job security for provident is beyond me.

If you have to work full time work for a company with prospects, who pay you 4/6 weeks paid holiday a year, pay you full pay when you're sick and makes contributions to your pension.

Being an agent for provident makes no sense any more!

Am I just being cynical having worked for such an unscrupulous, immoral company for so long or do I sense something really underhand going on??

Managerial redundancies, two DMs gone in our local office, lots of pressure on agents concerning all sorts of trivial issues and agents being driven to resigning or being sacked for some innocuous mistake and the redundant DMs picking up quality agencies. Now why would a DM want an agency with all this hassle and pressure that it comes with unless he knew that his mates/AM was going to look after him? Something doesn't add up here.

I think it's probably a bit of both. I bet some managers getting the heave ho will try and cherry pick if there's any good books in the offing plus as well as getting rid of smaller books there going to ramp up the pressure, there be happy if agents walk, falls into there plans at the moment.

Heard a little story the other day from a colleague in another office, apparently at the last clear out of DM's one of theirs cherry picked 3 agencies and guess what he had a deal to pay him at 13%. So not only are they taking our jobs they are taking the p** as well. Conference next week, would love to be a fly on the wall, wonder what form of torture they will come up with next. Karma and that's exactly what we will get when eventually. Spoke to several customers this week, for warning them that it may not be me next week, and every one of them said if it happened then that would be last penny Provi would get from them. So I think they have badly underestimated the effect all this is going to have. Karma!!!!!

Yep buts it's just a stay of execution for the agents left and once managers become agents it won't be long before there getting the same grief. I think in the years ahead providents going to exit home collected, morse will probably become the biggest player eventually.

    Hi Devil
Yeh your probably right if there still working probably worried about keeping their agency.

Agents can be dismissed for any silly reason if it suits.

In my opinion provident extremely likely to cut too much too soon and make a complete balls up of things, just going to further accelerate the decline in the business.
