Need some advice re: Natwest loan

Hi All

I got a loan a few years back and I was paying it off fine until I moved I now owe £7000. Since this time I have struggled to get permanent job. I am on an agency and over the last year i have worked for about 7 months and when im working I pay them the amount I should pay but when im out of work I obviously cant pay. Now the last time I was out of work they allowed me to pay £5 per month but this time they have refused this payment telling me I have to pay £50 per month but as im on benefits I cant afford to pay that. I gave them a list of my incoming and outgoing money but when they refused I was told I had to go to CAB, national debtline or one of the other companies and ask them to do an incoming and outgoing with me. I was confused as I had just given it to them but I agreed to do this. I spoke to national debtline and they advised me to write a letter and give them the personal budget sheet which I have done. The only concern is she mentioned that I may have to go bankrupt which I really dont think would be right for £7000 and she said that they may take my car if this happens. Now I need my car for my job as I drive everyday with it but as its worth about £2500 they may take this into account. I always work when I can get a job and I maybe back in a job in the next few weeks fingers crossed

But I just wanted to see if anyone can give me any advice about this, it is the only outstanding debt I have and I hope to get through this!

Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • I cant see that BR is the solution, tell them more firmly exactly what you can afford and why,if they dont/cant/wont accept that suggest they take you to court and get a ccj,a court will decide what you can afford(fairly)
  • Thats exactly what I say too... Its such a shame as everytime I get a job I start paying them again! Now you have said about them taking me to court that sounds a bit better then me going bankrupt and I hadnt even thought of it like you mentioned! I have already sent them all of the information across to them and told them how much I can currently afford... so Im hoping we wont have to go down the court route but I now feel a bit better about it if we do!

    Thanks

I've taken to "silently" clicking on the "spam" button for both the originator and the quoter in the instances I've come across...
