Could OR take my car?

I'm just taking steps to go BR. I'm a mature student and travel 15 miles to university so need transport as the trains are useless. Could the OR take away my car? It's worth around £2,500 and essential to me as I collect my children for weekends and they are 40 miles away. The other point is that although I am on the document as the registered keeper my mother actually bought the car.

Did you mother gift the car to you, or is it her car and you have full use of it? if the latter, then it is not your asset and the OR can not do anything (though they may require proof that your mother paid for the car).
  • Thank you.

I can prove my mother paid for it so I guess it belongs to her!
