need help before contacting creditors

hi, il keep as short as possible. My partner and i have split up and its for good.he has gone back to live in his own house. I have a job but a really low income.
Basically i have debts which are only in my name, and have never missed any payments, but i just cant meet them now when paying rent etc on my own.
I have contacted BT who wont let me out of contract to get house phone taken out. i also have a sofa with DFS with 8 months payment to make that i dont have the income to pay. can they come and remove it?
The only other thing i cant meet is barclaycard to whom i own £600.
I have a car on hp which i am going to have to pay,as to stop would mean i still owe far more than it is worth so cant hand it back.
I am going to contact CCCS to see if i can get them to help me get smaller or token payments sorted out.
Anything which can be cut down/lowered i am already working on, and have returned to pay as you go mobile, but its the bills above i am really worried about.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi
Would a lodger be a possibility?
Have you applied for the 25% single person discount on your council tax?
I think with the sofa with you only have a few payments left you'll probably find they cannot remove it (well not without court action). Have you got the HP agreement? might say something in there possibly?
How long have you left on the BT contract? have you got it on the cheapest tariff they have?
Have you completed a statement of affairs to work out how much you are short? do you do a lot of mileage? have you read the MSE article on reducing fuel costs etc? If you commute a distance is there any colleague you could share journeys with to save fuel costs.
Have you checked if you might be entitled to any working tax credits at all?

I think it may well be a good idea to post a SOA. That way people can have the full picture before advising. There is a sticky at the top of the DFW forum page.
And it does not sound pitiful compared to other peoples problems. If it is causing you worry then people will be happy to help on here.Debt now £48,000 in the form of a mortgage0 -
right, well, one bedroom flat so no lodger, iv applied and got single discount, also applied for tax credit, might get a tiny amount. il have a look on sofa account with santander. paid 16 payments with 8 to go.
BT i have 9 months to go, £30 for landline, calls and broadband, but i want to get it out and just go for a monthly dongle at approx £15. Calls i can use my mobile £10 per month. but they want me to pay the 9 months.
I only use the car for work, but walkings not really an option late at night and too late for buses and its a good 3 miles, wouldnt mind when im dayshift.
noone else at work lives in same direction or id try carshare.
My pay is approx £650 a month and rent/council tax and car payment take £440 of this. I could just about manage if i could get rid of BT and make token payments to the other debts. Im currently looking for a part time cleaning job in the mornings. But no luck yet.
Hatton garden metals was rather generous with a price for the engagement ring he had bought me. Couldnt stand to look at the thing again.:D PS i did offer it back but he didnt want it.
Will do a SOA if you think it will help.0 -
