New DMP but two creditors refusing the payment

Hi,
Hope I'm in the right place. My husband and I recently set up a DMP with CCCS - first payment in May. For the first time in months I have been less stressed and worried - until today when we received two letters from CCCS saying that both NatWest and HFC won't accept the offered payment. What do we do now? CCCS say they will send the payment anyway but does this mean that both creditors will start proceedings against us?
All advice very gratefully received.

Hi
A lot of creditors do say that to start with. They key thing is to just keep paying them (which CCCS will do). What often happens then is that they won't say they formally accept it but they just let you carry on with payments and issue a default notice.
Whilst its possible they might decide to start proceedings I would say that this is fairly unlikely, especially so early in your DMP. As they will know that even if they take you to court its likely a judge will only order a similar repayment to what they are getting anyway through CCCS. Being taken to court whilst on a charity run DMP is fairly unusual - it does happen of course but to relatively few people).
Its more likely that what they actually mean is that they won't agree to freeze interest on your account. You could leave it a couple of months to start with (they may change their mind and accept it yet), but if in a couple of months they are still charging you interest it might be worth sending a please reconsider letter (template on national debtline) - always worth a shot and it does work for some people.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi Tixy,
Thanks so much for your reply. We'll wait a couple of months and then send the letter as you suggest. I'll try not to worry too much till then. Have to say the wonderful people who post on this site were my inspiration for getting out of debt and on to a DMP.
Thanks again.0
