£1 a day = £250 for christmas

Ok so not sure if in the right area but. . . .

I thought i would share my idea with you, i bought a sealed money tin last weekend (the ones where you need a tin opener to open) and decided that i should put away £1 a day into it, weather i put the full amount in at start of month, week or the £1 daily.

so i started monday 11th and put my £1 in everyday, if i keep doing it until the 6th December i will have £250 towards christmas, i would be happy with that, would pay for some nice presents. now i know its not quite £10 a day or even £11,000 in 2011 but for people who are a little short on cash its a good idea to help out with christmas, what do you guys think?

It's always a good idea to save, if you can. But if anyone followed this they would be loosing £30 a month. I know they would "get it back" in 8 months time, but can "people who are a little short on cash", afford to be £30 a month down for 8 months.

It would be better to try and earn an extra £1 per day.

i would love to know how to earn £1 a day never mind £10 a day. there is only so much car booting and ebaying you can do, what happens once i have sold everything i own! survey sites, my gf does and hardly makes anything what so ever, hardly worth it. freelance, tried for so many jobs and never got one, like another thread said, you would need to bid like £1 an hour to get the jobs.

i always find you need moeny to earn money, its not like im female and can go on text chat/cams etc, and my gf was having none of that when suggested (well i wouldnt let her on cams but txt is harmless)

I can afford £1 a day, prob more as i would say i live a comfortable life with what i earn, it keeps me eating and warm with a small bit extra.

i just thought £1 a day sounds a lot less that £30 a month, and a £250 bonus at christmas is always nice.

and, if short on cash, wouldnt putting away £30 a month be a lot easier than struggling with buying presents from 1 months wage in December?

Over the last 6 months I have averaged around £14 per month just on OnePoll surveys. That's half way to £1 per day. Adding two or three others sites and I easily make more than £1 per day.

It may sound a lot less, but it's just the same, you are still taking £30 a month out of your income.

Nobody who is on a budget does that. They are either already saving through out the year for xmas, or buying stuff each month so they have less to buy at xmas.

In fact, whether short of money or not, or on a budget or not, I don't know anyone who pays for xmas out of just one months wages.

how many surveys do you do to make that money on surveys? my gf used to sit survey sites for a few hours a night and get no where.

imo - they are a waste of time, but saying that i am not saying you or anybody else shouldnt do them, what works for one doesnt always work for another.

anyway, just thought i would share my idea, not forcing anyone to do it. i will look forward to knowing i can afford a few more treats at christmas.

    Hi wayne

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'm going to put a pot on my at work desk and give it a go. Even £5 a week will help me out at Xmas.

I agree with survey sites - can't tell you how many I've got half way through before being booted out for not fitting their criteria. I guess some of us just don't fit the right demographics!
October no spend on lunches 2/17 so far.

i dont think i would trust the pot in my office, you never know who has sticky fingers!

i know that every christmas i wish i had that little extra for presents etc. and as im rubbish at saving the sealed tin is great as my gf will slap my fingers if i try and open it.

This is a very good idea Wayne.

Yes, it's not exactly upping my income, but after last year I decided to set up a direct debit to a savings account for Christmas. On payday, £25 a month whizzes out of my current account before I can spend it, it's building up nicely as you can see from my siggy. ;)

    Good luck Wayne!

Would definitely see how you could go about earning the extra £1 a day though rather than just saving it from your current pay.

I've been pondering recently on how to do the same although I actually posted asking for ideas on how to make £10 a day (I'm looking for around £300 a month til the end of next year to buy a car!)

I always dismissed the idea of matched betting but then decided to read through all the instructions and gave it a go - that was on Tuesday and I'm at a profit of £43.09 after very little work...that's nearly what you're looking for in a month and a half and I've done it in 3 days. The downside is you would need a couple of hundred quid just to pop into your Betfair account but I promise you it's a great little system and would probably make your £250 goal within the month.

If you're not happy about any sort of gambling then you could maybe try mystery shopping. I've done 1 already this month and have 1 booked for tomorrow and another for Saturday and this will get me £42. I'll probably get a couple more as well but depends on if I have the time.

Hopefully one of these ideas will work for you but good luck anyway!
