Any idea where my money has gone?

I went BR May 2010, with ED Dec 2010. I kept this fairly quiet from some people, including my dad. In Mar 2011, my birthday, my dad transferred £20 into what he thought was still my bank account. It was a joint account that was suspended and closed when I went BR and my husband did a DRO, the closing balance was something like -£100. I was by this point using a basic bank account with a different bank.

When my dad told me what he'd done I told him the account was closed and he's watched his account to see if the money bounced back but it didn't. He got onto his bank, who contacted my bank but got no response. Dad has asked me to chase this up, so after the bank telling me they'd send it to my OR, I contacted them today. They don't have any record of it!

I don't know what to do next...?? Any ideas?

Well as you are no longer BR, they have no right to send the money to OR, it is yours or your dads money. If they are saying its been paid to the OR and have therefore excepted the money as yours, then I would go into the bank (don't bother doing it over the phone) and demand that they sort it out. If they excepted the money on your behalf and then passed it to the OR, then explain that they have no legal right to do that now that your are discharged and demand that their either give you the money or refund the monies back into your fathers account. Regardless of whether they say they paid it to the OR or whether the OR has any trace of it, if the bank had wrongly given the money to the OR or anyone else for that matter, then they have to refund you or your dad for their error.

If the account was closed it shouldn't have been accepted by your bank anyway, should have bounced straight back to your dad, so there's a failure there at the start...

Otherwise, agree with Welsh, go kick up merry wotsit in the branch!
