Birds Eye Microwave Veg

I'm enjoying taking the Birds Eye microwave veg steam packet things to work for my dinner. http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/Shopping/FindProducts.aspx?Query=birds%20eye%20steam&SortBy=3
They're currently on offer at Asda and work out at 25p a bag. I was wondering if anyone has tried replicating this, i.e if i took a lunch box full of frozen veg to work and microwaved it, would it work the same? I've never microwaved veg before.

Thanks
:)

    Hello :)

Most veg microwaves pretty well, from fresh as well as from frozen. Most frozen veg has instructions for microwaving on the back so you could make up your own 'packets'.

The plastic lidded takeaway containers are great for this, just add a tablespoon or so of water and microwave with the lid on for a short time. Broccoli only takes a minute or two from raw.

You can get bags with vents specially designed for steaming in the microwave from (eg)

and you can freeze stuff in the bags so have it all portioned up ready.
From experience. things like broccoli/calabrese lose 'flowers' when they are frozen, but apart from that most things seem to work

instead of buying special "one use" bags, you could always get a plastic take away tray with a lid and put holes in it for ventilation
