Blair Oliver Scott are the inhouse debt collectors of Bank Of Scotland (and their associated companies) - hence the initials in the name.
So your debt hasn't actually been sold onto a third party debt collector.
What that means is they might offer you a reduced F&F but its unlikely to be a very low % of the levels you can get from a third party debt collector.

If it's a preference account, they won't have a compliant cca for sure...;)

Has it ever been conclusively proven that they're in-house collectors? I seem to recall they had a registered address that was comedically one door along from the main HBOS office...

The comments from Tixy on reduced settlements are spot on. My last debt was with B,O and S (defaulted BOS credit card from 2006). They played hardball (think I managed to get in the region of 30% off the remainder after 5-6 years of regular payments) and they never updated my credit report correctly. They marked the debt as partially satisfied, but left it looking like I have a balance of £6k (the full amount at time of default), not the £800 I never paid.

That said, I'm not thinking it's putting off other lenders too much as they managed to mark the balance for the month before it was paid of as £100k and are obvious dunderheads! :D

The limited company Blair Oliver and Scott Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of Scotland PLC (which in turn, ultimately is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lloyds Bank Group PLC).;)

How about their domain registration records which disingenuously describe those nematodes as being a sole trader?

But HBOS are listed as the registrant?
