HFO services HELP

Please help,

I recieved a letter from these guys today saying I owed money on a Barclaycard.
I dont recall any debt with Barclaycard so I sent them the prove letter from this site. I rang them and asked for my original credit agreement or statement of account and they became rude saying they will request it but in the mean time send the info to their solicitors (Turnbell Rutherford??) to get a CCJ.
I then did a free 30 trial with Equifax and saw they (HFO Services) are on my report but the debt is much lower ?? The default date for this is 27/4/05 but updated 16/3/08.
I would like to know whether it will "drop off" my credit file at the end of April and whether HFO could get a CCJ on my file either though I dispute it before it becomes statute barred?? Also why ask for high amount and on my file a much lower figure? Is it to say we will reduce to the lower figure and get full payment? And the name on the letter they sent and on my credit file in spelt wrong??

Thankyou

    Hfo idiots,

    Yes it will become sb'd.
Carry on with the cca route and any other delay tactic - don't let them know you are aware of the pending sb. The chances of them getting a ccj before it becomes sb'd are virtually zero....;)

    Edit.

The higher figure prob comes from illegal charges they can't add, but don't worry about this at the mo..

Did you ever have a Barclaycard debt for that amount?

Or something that might have been them? Barclaycard bought up Morgan Stanely/Goldfish Cards for example?

Never heard of HFO actually going to court for one of these dubious debts. I don't think even they are that stupid.

The default will come off on the 27th regardless.

If the default is then, then the last payment or acknowledgement of the debt would have been before that. So the debt could well be statute barred already.

If HFO are mad enough to go to court, then you would defend on the basis that it's not your debt and/or it would be statute barred.

HFO would then have to prove otherwise.

I told them I thought it would be Statute barred when I spoke to them. Will that cause issues even though I have emailed and posted a prove it letter (from this website).

I seriously doubt they could action anything quick enough...;)

  • I have received a letter from these guys for a Morgan Stanley credit card from about 5 years ago, I thought there was a limit on how long after things could be claimed? They're asking for 3871 when the credit card was 1200. I have been trying to read through threads to find assistance etc but was getting very confused so jumped on this because it's the same company.

Not even when (apparently!) their pet solicitors can 'issue' the CCJ? :p
