Where can I buy golden raisins?

I have had a few boxes of Asda raisin and oat cluster cereal ( from app foods) and the big golden raisins in them are so delicious. Nice and chewy and not very sweet.
I haven't found them for sale anywhere. Anyone know where i can get them? Or, failing that, can anyone recommend any raisins which are nice and chewy and a bit tangy rather than very sweet?
Morrisons no good to me as there isn't one anywhere within miles of me.

My dad loves these and brings them back from Pakistan and the States as he's never found anywhere that sells them here. Would be interested to know if anywhere does.

  • I've bought golden and in fact green sultanas from an Indian / Asian owned food shop near us at a very reasonable price too. There's a stall on the indoor market at Derby that sells all sorts of dried fruits as well, but it depends where you are obviously. Julian Graves used to sell Golden sultanas but their range of dried fruit has shrunk a lot of late.

Meg 72 I had a look at the link. Hard to tell if they are the same. The ones I am after are very big and quite chewy. Maybe half the size of a prune.
My friend was telling me that all the Asian shops near us sell them, but she was talking about the small ones. Not the same. They are quite sweet, and I want ones that are a bit tart. ( mind you, if you click on the link above you sort of get a bit of tart too lol!!!!!!). I will have a look in the Asain supermarkets later as I will be down that way today.

  • I got some in my local health food shop. You're right about them being very chewy!

I thought I had looked in H&B the last time I was in and didn't see them. Now I realise I was looking for wheatgerm that day!

  • There were product recalls for 2 major suppliers of golden jumbo raisins a couple of months ago (due to mistakes with the allergy advice labelling) it often takes a while for new stock to reappear in the shops after this happens.
  • Hi. Got some of these in Tesco Pitsea in the foreign food section. The company that sells them is Fudco. They come in large packs and cost about £3.00, keep them in the freezer and they don't dry out - just take out what you need when you need it. They also do very tasty green raisins, not as soft, but really tasty.

I wouldn't have thought of keeping them in the freezer. Good tip. I have never tasted green raisins. Are they sweet? As you can see above, I'm after something that's not very sweet.
